Apple Cider Crisp

Warm apple crisp on a chilly fall day.

Is there anything more comforting and homey?  Perhaps only the addition of a scoop of Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream.

In my journey to use up all of the apples my husband and I came home with 2 weeks ago, I decided I would be remiss if I did not include a recipe for apple crisp.  This recipe is very quick, and the crumb topping has the added kick of apple cider that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Apple Cider Crisp

Ingredients:

10 c. apples (peeled and sliced)
1 c. sugar
1 Tbs flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
pinch allspice

Crumb topping:

1/2 c. melted butter
1 c. oats
1 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 spiced apple cider packet

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.

Place sliced apples in a greased 13x9 pan.  In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour, and spices, sprinkle evenly over the apples.

In a medium bowl, mix butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and cider packet until crumbly.  Crumble over the apple mixture in the pan.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until coating is golden.

Enjoy!
