Crock Pot Sloppy Joe's

Bruce and I are moving this week, so we have been eating a lot of crock pot freezer meals that I put together at the end of last month.

One of our favorites has been these super tasty Sloppy Joe's.  The sauce is thick, full of flavor and slightly sweet, which is exactly how I like it.  You don't have to make these a freezer meal if you don't want to though, just simmer the meat in the sauce for 20 minutes and then serve.  But it has been super handy to throw in the crock pot for a quick and easy dinner.

Crock Pot Sloppy Joe's

Ingredients:

2 lbs ground turkey
2 cloves garlic
8oz can tomato sauce
1/2 c ketchup
1/2 c water
1/4 c brown sugar, packed
1/4 c flour
1 Tbs chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbs cider vinegar
2 Tbs yellow mustard
1 Tbs Worchestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Heat the garlic in a large skillet until fragrant.  Add the ground turkey and cook until browned and no longer pink.

In a medium bowl (preferably with a pour spout) combine all the remaining ingredients and whisk together until smooth.

Divide the meat and sauce between two ziplock bags (gallon size).  Freeze flat.

On cooking day, let the meat and sauce thaw, then place it in a crock pot on low for 4-6 hours.  Serve on hamburger buns.

Enjoy!
