Spiced Almonds

Sugar coated nuts seem to be everywhere this time of year, especially almonds.

So, why not jump on the bandwagon?

These little sugar and spice covered nuggets of goodness are incredibly addicting, and once you start popping them in your mouth, it is really difficult to stop.

I may need an almond intervention...

Spiced Almonds

3 c. whole, raw almonds
1 c. sugar
1 Tbs cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 c. water

In a medium pot, combine the sugar, cinnamon, allspice and water over medium-high heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Stir in the almonds with a rubber spatula, thoroughly coating the almonds with the sugar mixture.  Continue to stir the almonds until the sugar begins to harden and stick to the almonds (about 8 minutes) and they appear grainy.

Spread the coated almonds on some parchment or wax paper to cool.
