Shrimp & Sausage with Rice

You know that feeling when a meal just comes together?

This was that meal for me.

This Shrimp & Sausage with Rice dish is incredibly easy to make, and is virtually fool-proof!  If you can make Rice-a-Roni, you can make this meal.  It is great paired with some fresh vegetables or a crisp salad for a complete dinner.

If you don't like sausage, you can leave it out and just do shrimp, or vice versa, it is totally customize-able!

Shrimp & Sausage with Rice


2 Tbs butter
2 Tbs olive oil
1 small onion (diced)
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 lb turkey sausage (sliced)
2 c. rice
4 c. chicken broth
2 c. water
1 lb shrimp (raw)
pepper (to taste)


In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.  Add the garlic, onion, seasoning salt and garlic salt and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add the sausage and cook an additional 2 minutes.

Stir in the rice and saute for another 2 minutes before adding the chicken broth and water.  Bring the mixture to a boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Add the raw shrimp and cook an additional 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp is fully cooked.

Add pepper to taste.
